About Us

My husband Jimmy and I had a baby boy in June 2009 through gestational surrogacy due to various and sundry physical issues. When not obsessing over parenting, we both work full time (him in IT; me in IT/Web/Data/Marketing). I finally graduated in August 2011 with my MS in Library Science after 5 years in grad school at UNC. We also like to do stuff around the house, cooking and occasional yard work. I’m a Law & Order and Food Network addict who hates folding clothes, likes wine and cooking and has rediscovered books thanks to my iPhone and iPad.

Our little boy is 3 years old and has more energy than I thought possible. If we could bottle it, I swear our renewable energy problems would be solved. He likes trains, garbage trucks, stuffed animals and pizza.  Oh and chocolate cake, but not cake made by me :-/

We also have 3 extremely lazy, elderly felines who resent any noise we make and our intrusion into their ability to sleep all day and run the roost.

I blog for me and my 4 (or maybe 3 but likely not more than 5) occasionally loyal readers.  I’m still trying to find my voice after a hiatus and figure out what I’m doing and who I am.  If  you have an idea, let me know!

  2. I’m so glad to have found your site. I am also blogging about gestational surrogacy. It’s been difficult finding a place to ‘fit in’. I don’t fit into the infertility community because I am fertile (I can’t carry due to spinal injuries and chronic pain), but I don’t fit into the chronic pain and pregnant community. Thanks for your blog!

  3. Hi there! My name is Heather and I was hoping you would be willing to answer a quick question I have about your blog! Please email me at Lifesabanquet1(at)gmail(dot)com 🙂
